Monkey Fist Poi V2

The Lockdown – Flow DNA Community Blog (27/04/2020)

So it’s the last week of the hard lockdown in SA before we move to level 4. There’s still some uncertainty about what this means, but so far it looks like we can at least get out to exercise and walk our dogs!
So far we’ve used this time for some much needed play and experimentation, and although we’re keen to get out and see each other, we know it’s for the greater good if we stay home as much as possible.
It has been very interesting to see the move everyone has made to virtual space. With flow artists and performers offering more online classes and communities sticking together via group chats,
we are reminded how much the internet has helped grow communities and share ideas within many different art forms. We will also continue to provide you with tutorials and content to keep you entertained and moving!
It’s comforting to know that no matter how rough things get, there is always space for play and for flow.

Lockdown Update

Unfortunately we have learnt that Level 4 Lockdown will still limit us from sending out orders. We apologise deeply to everyone who is still waiting for their toys, this has truly been a bumpy ride with no end in sight. Your patience and support is greatly appreciated throughout this time and we look forward to spreading the flow again soon!

In the meantime, you can still use the discount code “LONGWAIT” for a 10% discount on all orders before the bans are lifted. We will keep everyone updated on the expected date to send your toys!

We’ve been playing with ropes a lot this past month, and have come up with a new monkey fist poi design that we are supremely stoked with!

And also, staves!

Staves made from the last rubber and tape we had came out quite nicely!

Flow DNA Lockdown Tutorial Series

Warren has been hard at work creating some awesome tutorials for you guys! Find them on our YouTube playlist:

Clifton Fire Jam Goes Virtual

We had a chance to experience something totally new and a little weird last week. FireTribe organised an online fire jam via Zoom, which was then live streamed on Facebook. We even put out a virtual tip hat to help support all the performance artists who are taking a toll during the lockdown, which raised around R1500! Check it out if you missed it:

Flow Arts Online

The restrictions regarding Covid-19 are likely to continue for the foreseeable future, so be sure to look out for all classes and group hangouts going on, as most communities are moving their activities online. Last week Marvin Ong hosted Master Ong’s Virtual Experience which was awesome, we hope there will be another one. There are also several classes with FireTribe that are worth checking out!
