Mojura Fire/LED/Flow Fans Kit Builder

Description

“Mojura” is Japanese for “modular”.
Collapsible fire/LED/flow fans are the goal that we were gunning for when we first started making fans, so you can take your fans apart for transport, swap out  the frames for fire/LED/flow, and switch grips with different ring sizes to suit your style and mood.

Flow DNA fire fan frames are made with nothing but 100% pure aluminum metal and 100% pure Kevlar.  Made from single 6mm thick sheet of aluminum, rather than the usual welded steel wire fire fans. Using a single piece of aluminum sheet means no welding or connections of any kind!  No connecting points means no weak spots.  Aluminum is lighter than steel,  It’s also highly resistant to corrosion, so it will never rust.

Fire Frames:

• Wicks made from 38mm 100% Kevlar, sewn with thread rather than screwed on, for minimal exposed metal.
• Cut out by robots from a single piece of 6mm aluminium plate, with edges rounded and finished by humans.
• Frames shaped with an organic aesthetic and functional design.
• Weight balanced so the centre of mass matches with the centre of the fan middle circle.
• Side wicks aligned for wick balances, with the centre-of-mass directly between them.
• Centre shaped for easier fishtails (careful though…  The flames and metal gets hot.  Wear gloves if you like fishtails)
• Flips and tosses become easier and more visually appealing with this centre-balanced design.
• Made from engineering-quality materials.  They can take a serious beating!

5-wick “Pantera” Frames:

• Width from side-wick to side-wick: 490mm (19.29″)
• Length from bottom of grip to top of middle-wick: 345mm (13.58″)
• Weight: +/- 265g (9.35 oz) per frame
• Weight with grips: +/- 355g (12.5 oz) per fan

6-wick “Facehugger” Frames:

• Width from side-wick to side-wick: 550mm (21.65″)
• Length from bottom of grip to top of middle-wick: 355mm (14″)
• Weight: +/- 330g (11.64 oz) per frame
• Weight with grips: +/- 420g (14.8 oz) per fan

LED Frames (beta):

• Pre-order our beta LED fans!  Leadtime = +/- 3 months.
• Made from TPU, and various 3D printed materials (we’re still experimenting)
• 52 LEDs per fan.
• Equipped with a gyrometer and accelerometer for motion response.
• Also a microphone so the lights can thump to the beat.
• Bluetooth and WiFi enabled for remote control (Mobile app to be developed eventually)
• We’re still working on the hardware, so we’ll be adding new modes and features over time.
• Firmware updates and charging by USB-C.
• Replaceable 14500 lithium battery – lasts 5+ hours on a charge (depending on modes)
• 2 buttons for changing modes
  – one button changes page/function, and the other changes colour
  – holding both buttons shows the battery level
  – continuing to hold both buttons will turn the LEDs on/off
  – future updates will add modes, and allow for changing settings with button presses
• We’ll add more details as we make adjustments to the design.

High Temp Mojuragrips (The grips you need for fire fans):

• Made from highly durable clear polycarbonate or white HDPE plastic. *
• Heat resistant enough to withstand the flames on your fire fans! **
• Cut out by robots, with edges rounded and finished by humans.
• Rounded off for the comfort of holding them, with a slightly bubbly feel to touch.
• Interchangeable with LED, Practice and Fire frames.
• Padded square handles for tactile feedback on 90 degree angles.
• Secondary holes around the ring positioned for optimal finger placement.

* While this polycarb and HDPE will not break easily unless you try really hard, we do not recommend juggling on harsh surfaces like bricks and concrete.

** Choose polycarb for the most heat resistance:

• Polycarb starts to soften when kept above +/- 150°C (302°F) for extended periods.
• HDPE starts to soften when kept above +/- 120°C (248°F) for extended periods.
• Short exposure to flames does not affect the grips (we did lots of testing)
• Try not to hold your grips in the fire, although honestly your hands would melt before the plastic does 😛

Our fire fan grips come with clips and an Allen key to attach them to your fire frames with screws.  These clips are not needed to attach grips to LED/practice frames.  The 3D printed grips are not intended to be used with fire frames do not come with these clips.

CHOOSING A GRIP STYLE:

Little Ring (38mm / 1.5″):
(AKA Extra-box-tech grip for USA styles)
We added these grips after realizing that some extra-techy spinners really want to put their 2 fingers into smaller holes.  If you’re one of those people, and you prefer to do boxy-techy things with a tighter fit for your 2 fingers, then these are the grips for you.

Small Ring (51mm / 2″):
(AKA Box-tech grip for USA styles)
These are made to fit 3 fingers, or 2 large fingers.
If you like to perform box-techy manipulations that involve more jerky movements where you need to stall the fans at specific angles, then this is the grip for you.

Extra Medium Ring (63.5mm / 2.5″):
(AKA The Goldilocks Grip)
These are made for big hands with 3 fingers, or petite hands with 4 fingers.
Slightly more techy than the medium ring.  Slightly more finger space than the small-ring.   Possibly just right for the most in-between of all tech styles.

Medium-Ring (76mm / 3″):
(AKA Hybrid-tech grip for Jack-of-all styles)
These are made for 4 fingers, or 3 very large fingers. Having more ring to hold on to is better for swinging/weaving techniques and tosses than the small-ring grips, while there is still enough flat handle space to hold onto for stalls and plane-switches. This grip is trying to be the best of both worlds.

Big-Ring (89mm / 3.5″):
(AKA momentum tech for Russian styles)
If you prefer to spin your fans in a continuous flow, performing lots of weaves and fountains, or if you want to do a lot of tosses with your fans, then you want a nice big ring. A large hand-hole allows for wilder spinning momentum-tech movements, and is easier to catch in the air. Box-tech stalling and tutting/switching is less easy with this grip, but still possible, and the squared handle helps with that.
